Tri-National Women in Transportation - Named a 2024 Workplace for Women in Trucking

If there’s one thing we appreciate here at Tri-National, Inc. it’s our hard-working ladies.

The Women in Trucking Association (WIT) is once again highlighting Tri-National, Inc. as a company committed to creating a workplace where women thrive in leadership. Being named as one of the 2024 Top Companies for Women to Work in Transportation, this is TNi’s seventh consecutive year in a row achieving this award.

So, how do we do it?

Fostering a safe and supportive environment of gender diversity and inclusion in the trucking industry sure is the start. We don’t just tell our women they are supported, but rather prove it on the daily.

We asked some of our TNi ladies about their experiences being in the transportation industry, curious to know how they are currently being supported, and if there is more that could be done to help them achieve their career goals in a traditionally male-dominated profession.

Q: What is it like being a woman in the transportation industry?

“I’ve been in the industry almost 19 years… it’s grown to be more inclusive to everyone with time.”

“When I first started my career, I did feel the need to prove myself. Especially with it being a male-dominated field. However, I feel my knowledge, responsibility and influence have expanded, not only with TNi, but with our transportation partner. Now it’s empowering!”

Women are shining; Ideas are kindly welcomed, and promotions are a real thing.”

Q: What is your favorite part about working at TNi?

“TNi is a safe, comfortable place to work. The executive team shows respect for ALL.”

“TNi feels a bit like a family; everyone cares about everyone else and management is flexible with home time being just as important as our time at work.”

“We’re given great benefits and offered team-bonding activities to help strengthen our group as a whole.”

Q: Compared to other companies, how does TNi stand out?

“I think TNi stands out from other companies by being family oriented and truly offering flexibility for a positive work-life balance.”

“It has an awesome reputation of being a True Blue Company. Our company sticks to being loyal, transparent and caring about its employees.”

“We’re have a very inclusive, down-to-earth culture, which I really feel allows for our rapid growth!”

Q: Are there any ways you believe TNi could better support the women who work here?

“Our company has grown tremendously since the start, and a lot of our success comes from hiring professional women. Acknowledging what they do is a great way to celebrate them.”

“TNi does a great job at making ladies feel supported, though it would be nice to harbor more female-driven conversations around the office.”

“Our female drivers are the ones who should definitely be raised on a higher pedestal. They’re out there running with the ‘big boys.’ They deserve shining recognition and appreciation every day!”

Fostering an environment of flexibility, TNi tries to accommodate for a positive work-life balance. Understanding many of our employees have families of their own to support, we offer WFH opportunities as well as training opportunities and openings for career growth. Tri-National ladies make up more than 35% of the company and we look forward to expanding how we can support them.

Now about that award…

To even be considered for the 2024 Top Companies for Women to Work in Transportation Award, we went through a multi-step nomination process. The WIT team closely examined our company, ensuring we met qualifications of being:

  • culturally supportive
  • gender diverse
  • accommodating for work life and family life
  • offer promotion opportunities

Finalists were then voted on by thousands of individuals in the transportation industry. Being elected for harboring a supportive community, TNi is honored to receive this award for a 7th year in a row. We continuously look for new ways to uplift and inspire our employees.

We express sincere gratitude to the Women in Transportation team, but mostly to our inspiring women for their dedication to safety, service and satisfaction on the road and in the office. We couldn’t have done it without them.
